Today, the folks at Doolally are tapping a new beer. Until yesterday afternoon they weren’t sure if their experiment would be successful enough to be taken seriously even by themselves. What they finally have ready for you is the Apple Pear Cider – looks like a really pale lager, smells like the regular Apple Cider, but on the palate it’s really light and unmistakeably noticeable pears.
We’ve read about popular craft brewries abroad making a pear cider apart from the apple one, so we asked why the marriage of the two? “We’d been thinking of making a pear cider for a while, but weren’t sure of how it would turn out. We knew the fermenting properties of the apple cider and what notes it would leave, so we figured it’s better to make something of which we’re half sure than nothing. This way we learnt what parts of the apple cider were retained and what new was added in the brew,” Suketu Talekar, partner at Doolally, tells us.
So, the next logical step would be a pear cider? Suketu beams, “Yes, of course!”
The Apple Pear Cider will be on tap from day 12pm. They’ve brewed a 800 liter batch, unlike the regular 1000+ liter batch. So you might want to go try it out soon.
PS: With the new management at Corinthians, prices have been increased. A pint’s for Rs 100 during Factory Hours (12-5pm), Rs 150 during Happy Hours (5-7pm) followed by the Regular Hours (7pm onwards) when a pint’s for Rs 200.
