No. 9 Park: Long Way to Supposed Awadhi Benchmark

Rishi Kapoor is from Bareilly, UP, so we still have some hope. Hopefully. He runs the six-month old No. 9 Park in Kalyani Nagar, an Awadhi and Continental restaurant. The continental menu still hasn’t been made live. This reminds us of Sixth Floor on FC Road who specialized in Mughlai cuisine where the last page of their vast menu listed some Chinese dishes. For obvious reasons, the place isn’t open any longer.

At the time of the press preview, Kapoor informed us that he’s hoping to tune the place into a fine-dine Awadhi restaurant that can set a benchmark for the city. We feel there’s a long way to that, and the interiors is not indicative of that. During the preview, we were served some paya soup, bunch of kebabs – chicken, vegetarian and mutton, and some raan as well.

We kind of got lost between different kebab preparations of the same meat – though they were all well done, there wasn’t much of a difference between them. The mutton kebabs are a definite thumbs up in delicateness. We’d recommend that you order not more than one prep of each base.

The raan was well flavoured but could’ve been more tender – eating it with just one item of cutlery should be enough. The Dahi ke Kebabs were an utter disappointment – clumped hard and devoid of the taste of curd. Le Kebabiere’s version still stands unbeaten.

But like we said, there’s still some hope. We haven’t tried any of the dishes on the main course yet and we’re looking forward to try the Aravi Masala, Methi Murgh, and Gosht Nihari with some Warqi Paratha. Wish they had some Shirmal to go with them instead.

Oh wait, they’ve got Punjabi veg and non-veg dishes on the menu too?

top review guys. ate continental here some time ago and was awful. The Indian on the tables next to us looked very poor as well. I’m surprised they still survive.

That’s really unfortunate, Arun. We haven’t tried the continental preps yet. I’m surprised you were served those since we were told that part of the menu is still to go live.
