Review: The Burger House, Koregaon Park

Verdict: Pocket friendly burgers, sandwiches and hot dogs. Crunchy Mushrooms are a must have. But the striking similarity to Burger Barn Café cannot be missed.
Rating: 3/5

Table for Two: Rs 200- 250
Address: Lane 7, Koregaon Park

The Burger House is a new eatery that has opened in place of The Burger Barn Café in Koregaon Park. With not much change in the look of the place and a menu spread across burgers, sandwiches, hot dogs, fries and other finger food, the resemblance to Burger Barn is uncanny. The only difference is that The Burger House has a lower pricing policy. All their burgers are priced between Rs 50-65.

Their Buffalo Style Chicken Burger is fiery, loaded with buffalo sauce, jalapenos and onions. If you like your burger spicy, we’d recommend this. If you like the flavours in your burger to be subtle, try their Meat Lover’s Burger. Although it gives one the satisfaction of chomping into a load of meat – a chicken patty, salami and sausages, it gets slightly monotonous. We’d suggest you ask them add an extra sauce of your choice to add that extra zing to the burger.

If you’re bored of having a side of fries with your burger, order for a plate of Crunchy Mushroom. They’re well done on the inside, crisp on the outside and go perfectly well with the garlic mayonnaise dip that they are served along with it.

As for their beverages, you’d rather stick to aerated drinks. Their iced tea was mixed in the wrong proportions and even dilution couldn’t fix it. The cappuccino on the other hand was too watery.

The food at The Burger House is pretty decent but the striking similarity to Burger Barn hard to ignore. On being asked about the roots of the concept of their menu, proprietor abs says, “I’ve learnt all my recipes in my three years of experience at the Sheraton in Maryland.” Which might be true, but like us, most Burger Barn patrons would probably disagree.

While, if you’re willing to spend a little more, we’d suggest you stick to Burger Barn since they have more variety, a bigger place now that they’ve moved where you can now sit for as long as you want, and yes, the WTF burger; for the days when your wallet’s light, Burger House does come to rescue.
