Press Release: The Hemophilia Society of Maharashtra (HSM), Pune Chapter is presenting the Pune Boutique Fashion Week for three days on 9th, 10th & 11th April 2010 at Pyramid Lawns, from 6pm to 10pm. Through this fashion week, HSM brings to Pune for the first time an opportunity for boutiques to showcase their clothes and accessories which are trendy and yet affordable. The event is being organised for fund raising and creating an awareness about hemophilia, a rare blood disorder.
12 boutiques from Pune will be showcasing their work. Each boutique will be allotted a stall for all three days to display and sell their designerwear. A fashion show will be held on all the three days. Pune models will walk the ramp. “Normally at fashion shows, the clothes are not designed to be worn by common people. But at our show, the clothes are not only wearable but affordable too. We expect an audience of almost 1000 people to come and enjoy the fashion show and take a look at the wares on offer”, says Danish Shaikh, Marketing Manager and event organiser.
The 12 prestigious stores showcasing their designs include Amara, Jaihind, Nusrat, Tick, Sabiha’s, This N That, Brand Mart, The Gallery, Chica, Davi’s, Naksh and Buckaroo Footwear. The fashion show is being choreographed and styled by Sandeep Dharma and the show is being compered by Leena Bhumra.
Through this exciting event, HSM aims to create an awareness about this disease. “A hemophilic has to be injected with clotting factor injection on a regular basis to survive…..each injection costs Rs.9000. By generating funds through this fashion week, we will in our small way help in mitigating the sufferings of this unfortunate lot”, explains Rashid Lilani, Hon Secretary, HSM, and a patient himself.
“Hemophilia is a genetic bleeding disorder. Those suffering from it have prolonged bleeding mostly in their joints. It is due to absence of a certain blood clotting factor in the blood. Prolonged bleeding may be after injury or can happen on its own. It affects almost only males irrespective of caste, creed, religion or geographical variations”, explains Dr. Sunil Lohade, Med. VP of HSM.
If the patients get to buy clotting injections through goverment support,it can go a long way in preventing HIV infections adds Dr. Lohade. “Hemophilia patients are called ‘Kaanch ki gudiya’, so delicate are they”, sums up Lilani. Femina Miss India World Ms. Pooja Chopra was present at the press meet to show their support towards the noble cause.
All donations to HSM are exempted under Sec 80G of Income Tax Act . For more details, pls contact : Danish Shaikh on +91 902 800 7800
