A look that’s been a favorite amongst all the connoisseurs ever since one could remember is that of the fusion of styles and ideas. Out of all the various experiments conducted in the laboratory of couture fusion the one etched very close to the fashionistas hearts world over is that of the combination which emerged by  fusing  the Indian and Western fashion sensibilities .The brainwave of the indo-western fusion not only took the fashion world by storm, but it refused to leave the fashion scene for generations together.

We take you through some these looks, that have once again catapulted Indian Fashion onto the world map.

Look 1:  Mirrored Belts

These colorful belts were created on the lines of the Indian traditional skirts embellished with mirrors. Surprisingly it became a favorite not only in the Indian wardrobe but also the West. The reason being that the belt doesn’t lose it sheen even when coupled with denims or skirts. But one must remember that when paired with denims you must preferably opt for a plain top. Another important aspect to always be kept in mind when donning that look, is to steer away from any distractions on your jeans or skirt in the form of patched work, print or embellishments.

The key to ace this look, is the less the better!!!

Look 2: Leggings and Kurta

An instant hit amongst those who couldn’t get enough of their Indian outfits but were still looking out for a change. What came as a surprise was a growth in the amount of fan following it began to garner a short while after it made its presence.

Evidently based on same idea was that of pairing tunic tops with leggings from the west, which had already got itself a huge clientele. The look was tweaked slightly to replace the tunic by the kurta, which soon gained momentum, not just on home ground, but the international ramp as well.

A rather important detail to be paid heed to while adopting this particular look is the care one needs to take while choosing the leggings. Ensure that it isn’t transparent apart from the fact that the kurta should NEVER be teamed with leggings with a lace border. Just keep it simple and minimalist.

Look 3: Kurtas with Denims and Trousers

A combination to have braved the ever-changing fashion scenario is that of the kurtis/kurtas teamed with jeans or even a pair of trousers. Easily one of the most comfortable cum chic fashion statements ever created. The popularity of this particular fashion statement gained ground after celebrities were spotted sporting this look in several movies. There is no way one can get this particular look wrong. Devoid of any flaw, it is quite an eye-catcher!

Look 4: Evolution of Sarees

Sarees have always been synonymous with traditional Indian wear. With time not only have the patterns and textures changed, but there has been an evolution in the types of blouses and most recently an entire revamp in draping styles too. From bubble sleeved full blouses, sleeveless blouses, blouses till the belly button, halter blouses, backless blouses to the bikini blouses we’ve seen them all. But a rather remarkable evolution of sarees came in the form of the half sarees. For women who find it an onerous task draping the nine yard material, it has found instant acceptance among them and the newcomers.

The recent endorsee to join the bandwagon of wearing a half saree is the svelte Shilpa Shetty. It is fast catching on with our western counterparts’ fashion scene as well. Fashionistas like Victoria Beckham and Liz Hurley too, have given this one a shot.

Look 5: Nehru Jackets

The Nehru jackets or most oft referred to as the band galas is a trend fast catching up with men of almost all ages. Not one to be restricted to India, this fashion trend has gone international. Endorsed by the likes of Michael Jackson, it sure is enough testimony to the fact that it is much accepted by the closets of men world over

Look 6: Ghagra Skirts Paired with Tank Tops  and Spaghettis

The ghagra skirt made its presence felt in the early 21st century by sashaying it’s way on the ramps. Starting off with being paired with normal kurtis, tees and choli tops, it eventually grew to be a global phenomenon with a slight twist. People world over began teaming the much sought after skirt with tank tops, spaghetti tops and corset tops. India itself was not far behind in embracing this fashion statement, being of course, the mastermind behind the very look.
