rujutadiwekar Rendezvous with Rujuta Diwekar

Rujuta Diwekar, who has shot to fame not just as the face behind Kareena Kapoor’s size zero but as the author of “Don’t lose your mind lose your weight” sat down over a conversation on one of her ceremonies of her book launch in Pune.
Rujuta, a trained sports, science and nutrition expert happens to be one of the best fitness professionals in the country.  A live wire full of energy and with a clientele that boasts the likes of  like Kareena and Karisma Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Preity Zinta, and Konkana Sen Sharma, she bears no airs that may portray her stature. Her affable manner made it very obvious that people would be willing to share everything about their lifestyles with her – an obvious brownie point that fetches her such a clientele!

A lifestyle writer with already a bestseller book under her belt, she is working on her second book focused specially on women. Stemming from the belief that women beat themselves to death over loosing weight, she shared her concern that women in their 40s are bigger victims of drug abuse than teenagers. She plans to increase awareness in women through her new book over the fine points of how they can have a better & healthier body and lifestyle without drugs, crash diets and harmful products available all across the weight loss market. She emphasizes the need to reach out to women and convey the core message, “Eating right and looking great is fairly simple; don’t make a big deal out of it”.
On being asked about the latest surge in the “Organic food” market in India, she spoke about the taste of the food and its nutritional values. Rujuta finds that food of this nature, changes completely in taste and its nutritive value since there is a 4 to 5 day time lag till consumption. This, since organic food when consumed near its origin tastes completely different, along with a different nutritive value.

She also shared her concerns regarding the growth of organic food as a fad in India. She underlined the fact that Organic food is a huge process. She believes a lot of organic food is grown more as a fad and not adhered to appropriate processes. Just not using fertilizers on the crop while growing it doesn’t make the food organic, one needs to ensure there are no fertilizers or pesticides used within the radius of 5 km of the crop to make it completely organic. She said the Organic food, which is grown through proper processes is healthier. But in India, most of the times the processes are bypassed and the consumers just pay more because of the fad, which she finds useless.

Signing off, she provided an insight into “size zero” and a man’s take on it. Rujuta shared with us her contemporary mindset about how size zero is not the best way to influence men in a relationship. She feels that men are more evolved and mature to judge women by the size of their waists or hips.

That was Rujuta Diwekar – not just a writer, but a fitness professional with an ardent passion for blogging, wherein she shares her views on diets, her trips and her views on almost everything under the sun.
