Pune TweetUp 2: Tweeple, Tweets and Rain

Pune’s Twitter users meet fell short this time for breaking their own record for India’s Largest Tweetup due to the rains playing villain. With 45 people [out of the 100+ registrations, damn you rains said the tweeple] attending the meet with a lot of newbies, Dhananjay started off with crowd sourcing his sessions.
The group started off with discussing the basics one needs to cover when joining Twitter like using a display picture and starting with a small number of people to follow and slowly growing the interaction among the community.
With the crowd moving on to whom to follow and unfollow, lot of people pointed to Saurabh Shah the human bot but he took it in his stride and enjoyed the limelight [or 5 minutes to fame?]. Twitter used for ads again was discouraged and people were asked to draw a line to self branding or be it for a corporate. Rohan Dighe, one of the organizers, was pretty much in for corporate coming on Twitter as they help in real time interaction. Arun Prabhudesai, whom Pune Mirror mentioned to taking a father’s role, was also throwing light on these concepts.
Like mentioned earlier, the rains did ruin the discussions, but the unlimited food and drinks made up on that front at only Rs. 100 per head. With a light outage also, candles and dripping water made the atmosphere up. Even though people’s clothes were soaking up water, no one minded it as there too many people to know more.
Krity Deb and Vishal Gadkari were busy tweeting away so that people who couldn’t make it to the meet could keep track. Everyone wondered if Saurabh Shah was tweeting or retweeting. I made sure the venue setting and food arrangements went as smooth as possible.
Thanks to Pringoo for tees for the organizers and twitter handle stickers for the attendees. Thanks to Pune IT labs for setting up the wifi network. And thanks to Shibani and Rishi of the Mint Café for helping us out with the venue. I’m sure people are looking forward to the next one now already, and we hope the twitterati like Amit Paranjape, Anupam Saraph and Navin Kabra turn up next time including the new peole.
Does someone have Navin’s high res image? Wanted to put that.
