We say India is going to the dogs, but looking at the present election scenario, I often wonder if it is already there with ‘them’. The candidates who are contesting the elections this time are a in a class of their own. The most controversial, or “classy”, being Mr Sanjay Dutt. Apart from him, there is always this apprehension regarding the fate of the country if Behenji becomes the PM.

Democracy has become a joke and a rather mirthless at that. The representatives are supposed to be representing the common junta, but I am sure that quite a few percentage of the population would agree that they would not like to be represented by someone who has been convicted under a statute of such a serious nature as the TADA!

It is high time that the political parties stop taking advantage of the fact that the masses admire the celebrities and cash in on it. It is not always necessary that one who makes a good actor also makes a good politician, even though the reverse is true. To be a good leader one requires different traits altogether, but it definitely misleads the lower class of the population who get swayed by the charm of these celebrities without realizing the consequences of it!

At least the Supreme Court’s decision is a welcome one, where on one hand (no, not the Congress Party’s symbol) they allowed the plea of Navjot Singh Siddhu, no such relief was provided to Sanjay Dutt merely on the basis of his stardom.

Now the latest buzz is that Nafisa Ali is to replace Sanjay Dutt as the SP’s candidate. It seems that Mulayam is hell bent on making place for Bollywood in his Party!
