The Three Dosts
Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham have fallen in love. Wasn’t it obvious, especially when they have done a couple of hits earlier as co-stars? I pity Priyanka Chopra. She was definitely looking for attention from two studs of the industry. And yes, Shahrukh and Saif have competition now.
The two actors do a lovely job acting as a gay couple, just so that they get a roof above their heads. Priyanka, in her gorgeous dresses is looking stunning. Debut director, Tarun Mansukhani, has handled the subject with an open mind, as anyone can notice. Apparently this story has been on the streets for the 2 years because no producer was ready do deal with such a touchy issue in India, and we’re pretty sure that a movie on gays could get messy and definitely not a hit. Take a look at “My Brother, Nikhil”. Kudos to Karan Johar, especially when people are saying that the movie has turned to be better than "Chuck and Larry".
Maintaining the cheekiness in the dialogues, the humor left us high and dry wanting for more. Even the serious and emotional scenes had hilarious touch ups. And we all loved Boman Irani and his character. He is always a pleasure to watch on the screen.
John displaying his “hot bod”, instead of the usual feminine presence, did make it an interesting intro. Shilpa Shetty’s facial expression during the song were more like I’m-trying-to-smile-though-I’m-suffering-from-constipation. Priyanka’s wardrobe made me wish I was in Miami. Miami vs. India. Nature vs. Man-made.
Vishal-Shekhar came out with a decent studio album for the movie. The songs made great backdrops in the movie. Maa da Laadla was a nice addition to the album, which was picturised on Kirron Kher being upset on finding that her son was gay.
The movie has definitely made a mark in the industry bringing humor and a sensitive issue together in one bowl. And with a U/A rating from the Censor Board, this will help in making the public comfortable with the homosexuality aspect of mankind. Children, who should be getting sex education, will also get an insight.
